Snow Days:
If classes need to be canceled a flocknote will be sent to our parents. In case of inclement weather, we will follow SOCSD's call. If school or after school programs are canceled because of bad weather, our classes will be canceled too.
Attendance & Lateness
Parents are required to call the Religious Education Office if your child will be absent. Children are expected in class on time. Late students must stop at the school office before going to their class to ensure proper attendance. If your child must leave early, please send in a note so the teacher can be made aware. The Archdiocese of New York only allows for 4 absences in a year.
Behavior in Class
Children are expected to be on their best behavior. Any student who does not display appropriate behavior will be required to meet with the Coordinator and or Pastor.
Parking Lot:
When dropping off children, please follow the flow of traffic and drive not more than 5 mph. When picking up children, please park your car and meet your child at the school's exit door. Please do not ask your children to wait for you anywhere but by the exit door of the school as it is not possible to monitor the children if they are around by the gym.
Sunday Mass:
Our families are expected to attend mass every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. Weekly mass attendance is a requirement of our faith, so please fulfill your obligation. All students will be given envelopes that they are responsible for handing in when they attend mass at OUR LADY OF THE SACRED HEART CHURCH or at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH. If you must attend mass at another Catholic church, we ask that your child/children write on the envelope the church you attended, the name of the priest who said the mass and a simple sentence or two letting us know what they learned from the Gospel. Click here for our mass schedule.
Homework & Tests
Homework is assigned at the catechist's discretion. Tests are given throughout the year and students are to be prepared to take them. If your child has special educational needs, please inform us. This information will be kept confidential.
